Note:

• Completing the prerequisites in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Post-Baccalaureate Certificate program does not guarantee admission into master’s programs.
• Prerequisites for the Master of Science (M.S.) education program in speech language pathology at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater are not necessarily the same prerequisites for other graduate programs. Applicants should review requirements for their program(s) of interest prior to applying.
• Students may enroll in a maximum of 18 credits per semester.
• Students typically apply for Master’s Programs in Speech Language Pathology or Audiology at the end of the calendar year (Dec or Jan) to meet application deadlines.
• Students may need additional courses to meet American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) certification or licensing requirements before they complete a mfaster's degree.
  • Biology- acceptable courses in biological sciences should emphasize a content area related to human or animal science; a course in communication sciences and disorders may not be applied
  • Physics/Chemistry- acceptable courses in physical sciences should include physics or chemistry; a course in communication sciences and disorders may not be applied
  • Social/Behavioral Science- acceptable courses in social/behavioral sciences should include psychology, sociology, anthropology, or public health
  • Statistics- a stand-alone course in statistics is required; research methodology courses in communication sciences and disorders may not be used to satisfy the statistics requirement
  • Human relations/diversity requirement

Instructions for applying:

• Complete the UW System Online Application as a transfer student, but make sure to state that you have already earned a Bachelor’s degree.

• Apply to the Communication Sciences and Disorders major and state that you only want the post bac certificate.

• Applications should be received by July 1st for a fall start date. Applications received after July 1st will be considered on an individual basis.

• Contact us to meet with a Communication Sciences and Disorders adviser to confirm a post-bac course plan based on transcript review. Provide a copy of your transcripts prior to meeting with the COMDIS adviser.

• Attain permission to enroll in courses after meeting with COMDIS adviser.

Official transcripts confirming degree conferral and GPA are required.

If you do not meet the admission criteria, please email us to determine if you could be admitted on a conditional basis.

Course materials

Textbook rental is included in the cost of tuition for many courses through the University Bookstore's Textbook Rental program.

Financial aid

Students enrolled in the certificate programs are currently not federal aid eligible. 

Students completing a certificate with a degree program may be eligible for financial aid in the form of grants, loans, scholarships, or employment. All of these make up a “Financial Aid Package” and may be offered singly or in various combinations. Since funds are limited, priority for aid is based on financial need and how promptly applications are filed. For more information, please reach out directly to the Financial Aid department.
