Intergenerational Technology Services (IGeTS)

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (UW-W) is happy to announce the establishment of Intergenerational Technology Services (IGeTS) at the Community Engagement Center.

IGeTS provides technology services for home and community based services (HCBS) enrollees aged 50+ and any adults aged 60+ that reside in Walworth, Jefferson, Rock, and Waukesha counties. Services are offered in English and Spanish and provided by UW-W students, faculty and staff members as well as community volunteers.  Services include:

IGeTS provides technology services for home and community based services (HCBS) enrollees aged 50+ and any adults aged 60+ that reside in Walworth, Jefferson, Rock, and Waukesha counties. Services are offered in English and Spanish and provided by UW-W students, faculty and staff members as well as community volunteers.  Services include:

30 minute one-on-one support for assistance with your personally owned digital device. Bring your mobile/cell phone, tablet, smart medical device, Bluetooth, or any other handheld device and we will show you how to set it up, resolve issues with the device, and provide guidance on how to best utilize your device. This is a drop in service and does not require registration. This service and support in preferred language is based on staff availability.

Drop in during our service hours and 30 minutes of individualized support with your personal device. There is no need to make an appointment.

30 – 45 minute educational classes on a variety of “how to” topics with technology. Classes are conducted in our state of the art technology training room that includes computers for learners’ use. Space is limited to 16 people and requires registration. Classes are scheduled on a rotating basis and participation requires advance registration.  To register for a class please call 262-472-1837. For classes delivered in Spanish, please call to register. 

30 – 45 minute one-on-one support with brokering a virtual visit with your healthcare provider or mental/behavioral health provider. We will provide a private space for you to engage in your virtual visit and can assist with connecting the virtual call and supporting you through the visit. This service requires advance registration.  Registration will be available soon.

Hours of operation:

 Monday: 8:30am – 1:30pm

Tuesday: 8:30am – 1:30pm

Wednesday: 8:30am – 1:30pm

Thursday: 8:30am – 1:30pm

IGeTS is closed on federal and state holidays

Made Possible

The offering of free technology services is made possible through generous funding from the State of Wisconsin and Greater Wisconsin Agency on Aging Resources. Services offered through IGeTS will be free to HCBS enrollees aged 50 + and adults aged 60+ that reside in Walworth, Jefferson, Rock, and Waukesha counties through September 15, 2024. Services will move to a fee-based structure starting September 16, 2024.

Intergenerational Technology Services (IGeTS) is housed at UW-W’s Community Engagement Center (CEC), which is located on Main Street in central Whitewater near the Walmart Shopping Center.

Our physical address is:

1260 W. Main Street| Whitewater, WI 53190.

IGeTS is located in room 124, which is situated toward the back CEC. There is plenty of free parking in the front and back of the building.
