Students of Color

UHCS strives to provide high quality physical and mental health care, outreach, and consultation. Because of this mission, we hold a strong commitment to the diverse 欧洲杯投注 community and the promotion of equity and justice. We recognize and acknowledge that discrimination, prejudice, and inequitable systems of power and privilege impact the wellbeing of our campus community. As a healthcare organization, we work to:

  • Create and sustain an environment that respects and welcomes people from diverse backgrounds including, but not limited to: race, color, ethnicity, religion, sex, citizenship, national origin, age, ancestry, physical/mental ability, political beliefs, status as a veteran, sexual orientation, marital status, parental status, gender identity, gender expression, body size, mental health, and socioeconomic status;
  • Challenge systems of oppression to create a more inclusive campus community;
  • Recognize and eliminate the prejudice, discrimination, and health disparities that have traditionally affected healthcare delivery;
  • Cultivate our cultural awareness and humility through professional development and encouragement of ongoing self-examination of our biases.

 While this list starts off with recognizing and validating the notion of BLM, UHCS as well as the University, understands that there are other identities and communities that have unique struggles.  This guide serves as one in the building of a library of resources of social and restorative justices.

In keeping with UWW’s commitment to creating and nurturing an environment in which different perspectives and backgrounds can be heard, valued, and utilized, UHCS staff firmly condemn structural racism and believe that Black Lives Matter.

The following resources were collected in response to and recognition of the impact national, regional and local incidents of racial violence and loss have on UWW’s Black community. The hope is that these resources can provide support as our community members attempt to process and heal mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

This is a living list and all suggestions as welcome and encouraged. Send any suggestions to uhcs@awamiwebsite.com.
