Online Post-bac Certificate
The COMDIS department offers an online asynchronous post-baccalaureate certificate for students that have earned a baccalaureate degree in any discipline other than communication sciences and disorders. This online asynchronous certificate allows a student with a bachelor's degree in another field to prepare for application to a master's degree program in speech-language pathology or audiology. Certificate courses follow a prescribed sequence for either 1 year full time or 2 year part time. Full time and part time students begin coursework in the fall semester.

Instructions for Applying to the COMDIS Online Post-Bacc Certificate:

- Complete the UW System Online Application as a transfer student but make sure to state that you have already earned a Bachelor’s degree.
- Apply to the ComDis major and state that you only want the post bac certificate.
- Applications should be received by July 1st for a fall start date. Applications received after July 1st will be considered on an individual basis.
- Contact comdis@awamiwebsite.com to meet with a Communication Sciences and Disorders adviser to confirm a post-bac course plan based on transcript review. Provide a copy of your transcripts prior to meeting with the COMDIS adviser.
- Attain permission to enroll in courses after meeting with COMDIS adviser.
- Completing the prerequisites in the Post-Bacc program does not guarantee admission into Master’s program.
- Prerequisites for the grad program at UWW do not necessarily cover all prerequisites for all other grad programs.
- Students may enroll in a maximum of 18 credits per semester as a full time student.
- Students typically apply for Master’s Programs in Speech Language Pathology or Audiology during winterim (Dec or Jan) to meet application deadlines.
- Students may need additional courses to meet ASHA certification or licensing requirements before they complete a Master's degree
- Biology- acceptable courses in biological sciences should emphasize a content area related to human or animal science, a course in communication sciences and disorders may not be applied
- Physics/Chemistry- acceptable courses in physical sciences should include physics or chemistry, a course in communication sciences and disorders may not be applied
- Social/Behavioral Science- acceptable courses in social/behavioral sciences should include psychology, sociology, anthropology, or public health
- Statistics- a stand-alone course in statistics is required, research methodology courses in communication sciences and disorders may not be used to satisfy the statistics requirement

The minimum requirements for admission to the Online Communication Science and Disorders Post-baccalaureate Certificate are:
- Completed undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university.
- Minimum GPA of 2.0 in undergraduate studies
Official transcripts confirming degree conferral and GPA are required.
- A maximum of 40% of the credit hours towards the Communication Sciences and Disorders Post-Baccalaureate Certificate may be accepted as transfer credits (meaning 12 of the 32 credits could be taken elsewhere).
- Minimum GPA of 2.5
